Elena Kochetkova is a senior lecturer and research fellow at the National Research University Higher School of Economics – St. Petersburg (Russia).
She obtained her PhD at the University of Helsinki (Finland) in 2015. Her dissertation was devoted to technology transfer from Finland to the Soviet Union in the 1950s and 1960s and its impact on Soviet technological modernization in the forestry industry.
Currently, Elena works on a few projects, all concerning the history of Soviet technological, economic, and environmental developments. In particular, she examines the history of Soviet milk industry and milk packages and their roles in transformations of consuming. Another project concerns the history of pulp and paper making enterprises and the specifics of Soviet technological innovations. Elena also is working on a monograph devoted to the development of forestry in the USSR during the Cold War.
