Florence HACHEZ-LEROY

An Associate Professor HDR of Modern History at the university d’Artois, and an honorary member of l’Institut universitaire de France, Florence Hachez-Leroy is a researcher at the Center for Historical Studies (UMR 8558, EHESS/CNRS).

Her research explores contemporary materials from the viewpoint of economic history and the history of science and technology, and focuses on their cultural aspects as well as processes of patrimonialization. A specialist in the history of markets, she devoted her early research to national and international cartels in the sector of light alloys. Her most recent research analyzes the building of consumer confidence in high-risk uses such as cooking utensils and food additives. She is currently directing an interdisciplinary research program entitled “Aluminum, Architecture & Heritage, 20th–21st Century” (ARCHIPAL), ANR 2018-2022.
