Hélène BLAIS

Hélène Blais is a Professor of Modern History at l’École normale supérieure (Paris), and a member of IHMC. She is a specialist in the history of knowledge in a colonial setting, environmental history, and the history of travel. She has published Voyages au Grand Océan. Géographie du Pacifique et colonisation (Paris, CTHS, 2005) and Mirages de la carte. L’invention de l’Algérie coloniale (Paris, Fayard, 2015), and has co-edited multiple books including Territoires impériaux (Paris, Publications de la Sorbonne, 2011) and Les grandes découvertes. Une autre histoire de l’exploration (Paris, Seuil, 2019). She has co-edited a number of journal issues, such as “Le commerce des plantes en contexte global,” a special feature in the Revue d’histoire moderne et contemporaine, 2019.
