Hugo VERMEREN

Hugo Vermeren is a member of l’École française de Rome, and is a specialist on the colonial Maghreb, international migrations, and intercommunal relations in Italy. He is the author of Les Italiens à Bône. Migration méditerranéenne et colonisation des peuples en Algérie (1865-1940) (Rome: École française de Rome, 2017). He coordinated, with Delphine Diaz, the special issue “Éloigner et expulser les étrangers au xixe siècle” (Diasporas 33, 2019). His current research focuses on the governance of halieutic resources in the Maghreb, as well as the mobilities of fishermen in the Mediterranean during the nineteenth century.
