Julie ÖZCAN
After a bachelor’s degree from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University and a master’s from Rennes 2 University followed by a second master’s thesis at Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris, Julie Özcan is currently writing a doctoral thesis about women’s power and monarchic systems in France, England and the Ottoman Empire (1550-1720), under the supervision of Fanny Cosandey. Following her participation in numerous symposia, she published a comparative article about portrayals of royal widows in England and France in the 17th and 18th centuries (2023). She is also the sole owner of Les Malices de l’Histoire (Historical Mischief), a business that has participated in various academic projects for non-profit history organizations like Faire-Savoirs and Cour-de-France.fr.
