Marguerite MARTIN

Marguerite Martin is an associate professor at Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University, and a researcher at IDHES (Institutions and Historical Dynamics of Economics and Society, UMR CNRS 8533). Her research focuses on the economy of the French colonial empire, Atlantic trade, and the European textile industry – particularly the dye sector, in the 17th- and 18th-centuries. She recently co-edited with Maud Villeret the proceedings of the La diffusion des produits ultramarins en Europe, xvie-xviiie siècle (The Spread of Products from Overseas in 16th-19th Century Europe) seminar (Rennes: PUR, 2017). She has also published “Pour des couleurs plus solides ? Transgression des règlements et diffusion de l’indigo dans la teinture des étoffes de qualité intermédiaire au xviiie siècle” (“For sturdier colors? Transgressing the rules and spreading indigo in dye for medium-quality clothin the 18th century”), Dix-Huitième siècle, n° 51, 2019/1: 141-158.
