Nicolas CHARLES

Nicolas Charles is a Teaching Fellow (professeur agrégé) and a doctoral student at l’université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (UMR-SIRICE) under the supervision of Nicolas Offenstadt. He is working on the topic of “Interpersonal relations between French civilians and German soldiers in the occupied North and the Ardennes between 1914 and 1918.” He has written numerous articles for national and international reviews on the occupation in Northern France, analyses for the website nonfiction.fr on the First World War and German history during the first half of the twentieth century, as well as the book Enseigner 14-18, les mémoires de la Grande Guerre, Canopé, 2015 (with Yohann Chanoir). He is the subeditor of the journal Historiens et Géographes, and is also a member of the scientific evaluation committee of the Mission Centenaire, under the direction of Arndt Weinrich.
