Raphaëlle BRANCHE

Raphaëlle Branche is Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Rouen. She is working on violence in the colonial context and more specifically in times of war. She has notably published La torture et l’armée pendant la guerre d’Algérie, 1954-1962 (Gallimard, 2001) and, with Fabrice Virgili, Rape in Wartime (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012). Her current research focuses on the  transmission of the war experience within families.
