Francisca DE HAAN

Francisca De Haan is professor of gender studies and history at the Central European University (CEU). Her research focuses on transnational women's and gender history, histories of inter/transnational women’s movements, socialist and communist women’s political activism, women’s work, and women’s archives. She received a number of prizes and fellowships, and in the autumn of 2017 held the Chaire d’Excellence, LabEx EHNE, Axe 6. Publications include The Rise of Caring Power. Elizabeth Fry and Josephine Butler in Britain and the Netherlands (Amsterdam University Press, 1999), with Annemieke van Drenth; and Rosa Manus (1881-1942): The International Life and Legacy of a Jewish Dutch Feminist (Brill, 2017), co-edited with Myriam Everard. De Haan is founding editor of Aspasia: The International Yearbook of Central, Eastern and South Eastern European Women’s and Gender History. She is a former Vice-President of the International Federation for Research in Women’s History (IFRWH).
