François-Xavier NÉRARD

The holder of an agrégation in history and a former student of the the École normale supérieure, François-Xavier Nérard is Senior Lecturer at the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and an associate researcher with the UMR 8138 Sirice. A specialist of the social history of the Soviet Union, he has worked on denunciations, complaints, and forms of protest in the USSR under Stalin (1928-1941). He is continuing his research in two primary directions: the history of violence and the memorialization of massacre sites in the USSR and Russia, as well as a history of taste and consumption practices in the USSR.

He is notably the author of Cinq pour cent de vérité (Tallandier, 2004), and edited Commémorer les victimes en Europe (Champ Vallon, 2011).
