Nadine Lefaucheur, a sociologist (CNRS/université des Antilles) and co-author of La fabrication des mâles (Seuil, 1975), contributed to Histoire des femmes (tome V, Plon, 1992) as well as the program for the  “Comparing social protection systems in Europe” (1995-1997) research mission conducted by the French Ministry of Labor, Employment and Solidarity. Her research initially focused on the situations of “deviant” families (unmarried mothers, single mothers, single-parent families), the history of scientific theories and the policies adopted in connection with them, and later on questions relating to gender, interpersonal violence, and family configurations in the West Indies.
